Problems persist at Ajax: departure of the board of directors

The board of Ajax will resign before September 1 due to lack of confidence. The Amsterdam club announced this through the official channels. And that means a new chapter of unrest after all the sporting malaise and where the necessary policymakers such as technical manager Gerry Hamstra, chief scout Henk Veldmate and head of youth academy Saïd Ouaali have already left.

The resignation of the board of directors is the result of a revolt among the members. Chairman Frank Eijken says that his board does not feel support for the policy pursued. The reason for this is a recent proposal to pay the Supervisory Board from now on.

The board represents the eight hundred members of the Ajax association and with 73 percent of the shares, it is the major shareholder of the club. The board is also responsible for appointing the members of the supervisory board, which in turn supervises the Ajax management.

In addition to chairman Eijken, the board consists of Wendy Nagel, Sander Mallie and Marc Stuut. They therefore leave no later than September 1, which causes new problems for the Amsterdam club. Where the position of director Edwin van der Sar is already under considerable pressure and it is still unclear who will be the head coach next season.
