Probably without Andy Peelman, but there will be a new film about ‘The neighborhood police’ | TV

The first three films about the group of fictitious cops have already shown that the popular scripted reality series ‘Debuurtpolitie’ also scores on the silver screen. ‘The great money robbery’ (2016), ‘De tunnel’ (2017) and ‘The circus’ (2019) each attracted more than 100,000 visitors to the cinema. Not bad for films that were shot in just ten days. It should therefore come as no surprise that another cinema film is planned. The recordings will start in the autumn, writes Het Nieuwsblad.

‘The Neighborhood Police’ first appeared on screen in 2014 and ran for thirteen seasons. Last year, VTM launched a spin-off: ‘The neighborhood police VIPs’, in which people like Marc Van Ranst or Véronique De Kock played a guest role. At the end of that series, Inspector Koen, Andy Peelman’s character, was shot dead. “I’ve played for seven years and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunities that the program has given me, but it’s time to take other paths,” he said when he said goodbye. Peelman had wanted to stop with the program for some time and only agreed to make one last appearance. “But then I really had to die,” he said. “Then it should be the last time.” It therefore seems certain that he will not return in the new cinema film.
