Hundreds of people came to a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Thursday evening.
The police estimated the number of participants at around 600, a police spokeswoman said. The evening initially passed without incident.
Some participants carried Palestine flags and shouts of “Free Palestine” could also be heard. The demonstration began at Oranienplatz and moved to Hermannplatz in Neukölln in the evening.
There were also numerous left-wing groups among the demonstrators. Participants also used a child carried in their arms to warm up the crowd.
The police in Berlin are preparing for several demonstrations this weekend. Protected by a large police contingent, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is also expected in Germany on Friday.
