The municipality of Noordenveld has to look for a new municipal clerk. Peggy van Vliet, who has held the position since August last year, has informed the city council today that she will stop her work with immediate effect for private reasons.
“There are too many things going on in my personal life right now that require my absolute attention. I’ve put everything in order and have come to the conclusion that I am forced to choose a different direction in my career, how unfortunate that is also for Noordenveld”, explains Van Vliet.
She succeeded Marinus van der Wal in Noordenveld, who stepped down as municipal clerk in December 2021. In the meantime, Greta Hoving took over the position. Before that, Van Vliet was lobby coordinator at the province of Overijssel.
Mayor Klaas Smid calls the situation ‘extremely annoying’, not least because Van Vliet has only been working for half a year. “But due to her private situation, she unfortunately cannot continue her work. It is especially very sad for herself.”
Smid also calls it a ‘courageous decision’. “As a board, we can only respect and understand that. It is now important for us to take over its tasks as best as possible. Fortunately, we have a management team that can put their shoulders to the wheel together, so that we can put things in order with a cool head. keep business.”
Meanwhile, the search for a new city clerk is underway. “We are starting that procedure”, confirms Smid. “We don’t know yet when we can present a new secretary.”
Tonight, the Noordenveld city council would be updated by Van Vliet about the personnel situation at the town hall. At the beginning of 2022, the works council of the municipality resigned due to the persistent shortage of staff and the pressure on employees. As director of the municipality, Van Vliet had to restore peace at the town hall.
Smid says he wants to set up a new meeting as soon as possible to update the council on the personnel situation.
