Elvis’ granddaughter Riley Keough appeared at the 75th Emmys with her grandmother Priscilla Presley. After the death of Lisa Marie Presley (daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and mother of Riley Keough), the two fought a legal battle over the inheritance of the person who died in 2023. They finally reached a settlement and have now appeared together at the event on Monday (January 15th).
Granddaughter and grandmother posed arm in arm on the red carpet at the Emmys. Presley supported the actress, who was nominated in the category “Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Movie” for her performance in the series “Daisy Jones & The Six”. Both women wore black Chanel dresses, with Keough’s gown strongly reminiscent of the “Daisy Jones” hippie style. It was the 34-year-old’s first Emmy nomination. In the end, she didn’t win the prize. Instead, Ali Wong took home the award for his role in “Beef.”
Legal battle over Lisa Marie Presley’s estate
The stubborn legal battle over Lisa Marie Presley’s estate, which includes Elvis’ famous Graceland home and the family’s shares in Elvis Presley Enterprises, dragged on for many months in 2023. The Presley daughter was the sole trustee and long-time administrator of her father’s estate. She had deeded it to Keough and her siblings before she died unexpectedly in January from complications from weight-loss surgery.
Priscilla Presley questioned the “authenticity and validity” of her daughter’s will regarding the estate, and a dispute ensued that was played out in the media. However, the parties settled the dispute and reached a proposed settlement in June that appointed Keough as sole trustee. The agreement also stipulates that Priscilla can be buried at Graceland and receive a payout of more than $1 million.
“She was just my grandmother.”
The Presley granddaughter spoke about her struggles with her grandmother in an interview with Vanity Fair in August: “She’s a wonderful woman, and she was a big part of my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland. It is very important for her. He was the love of her life. Anything that suggests otherwise in the press makes me sad. Because at the end of the day, all she wants to do is love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy. This is her whole life. So it’s a big responsibility that she tried to take on herself. None of this was ever a part of our relationship. She was just my grandmother.”
