Princess Catherine was not allowed to immediately tell her loved ones about her birth

Brittishov’s protocol dictates how and to whom the birth of a new crown head is informed.

William and Catherine’s third child, Prince Louis, was born in 2018. PDO

When Princess Catherine had given birth, she just couldn’t tell her friends and family the good news. The reason is the strict protocol of the British court.

Catherine’s loved ones had to wait for information, because first the matter had to be reported to the reigning monarch.

The delivery room staff also committed to confidentiality. According to the Mirror, William broke the good news to his grandmother Queen Elizabeth in a “specially encrypted” call from the hospital.

Later, the new parents discussed the new royal’s name with the Queen. Queen Elizabeth was not equally fond of all the names of the royal babies.

In August 1988, Prince Andrew and Duchess Sarah had their little princess. At that time, it took two weeks before the child’s name was announced. She became Beatrice.

The first name option didn’t work out for the queen. The duchess, also known as Fergie, would have wanted her princess to be Annabel. In the queen’s opinion, the name was too “juppish”.

The name Beatrice is believed to have come from the Queen Victorian daughter’s name. Princess Beatrice’s full name is Beatrice Elisabet Mary. Other names also come from the family.

Prince William and Princess Catherine represented Jordan at the royal wedding this summer.
