Louis, third son of William and Kate, celebrates its 5th birthday today, with a birthday party in the gardens of Adelaide Cottage, the Windsor mansion where he moved with his family last summer. Louis, the Princes of Wales reveal, is the naughtiest of the three children, he doesn’t sit still for a moment and it took him a while to learn how to behave at court. But it was precisely his vivacity and his irreverence that won the sympathies of his subjects.
The sympathy (pictured) of Prince Lois
Two now iconic images were enough to demonstrate his temper: the famous photo, taken during the celebrations of the Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth, last June, in which tantrums with mum Kate; and the one in which she chases after her little sister Charlotte, 7, during the Royal Walk at Sandringham last Christmas, to give her a small bouquet of flowers.
Prince Louis will be noticed at the Coronation of his grandfather Charles
He will also be one spare, a “spare wheel” like Charlotte, the older sister, but at just 5 years old Louis already demonstrates that he has no intention of remaining in the shadow of his older brother, heir to the throne. And if George has an official role – that of the king’s page – during the coronation rite at Westminster, little Louis, “relegated” to processions as it is still too small, it may still reserve some surprises.
Louis has come a long way since his official debut on the Buckingham Palace balcony
It was June 2019 and the occasion was Trooping The Colour of great-grandmother Elizabeth. Little Louis was just 13 months old and, in William’s arms, sported a white and blue outfit that had been worn by his father before him. Undaunted, he had applauded the parade for a long time with an enthusiasm and a certain annoyance that he also showed during the procession in a carriage with the little brothers for the Queen’s Jubileelast year, or in the moments spent on grandfather Carlo’s lap while watching the military parade.
Little Prince Louis is growing up
However, during the Royals’ recent Easter outing in Windsor, a change was noticed in Louis. In a tie and shorts (he’s not yet old enough to wear long ones), and with his mother’s hand held tight, the little boy behaved with the grace and politeness one would expect from a prince, accompanying his parents to church . Will he also behave well during the Coronation ceremonial? Some hope not…
