‘Prince Charles received a donation of 1 million pounds from the bin Laden family’ | Abroad

British Crown Prince Charles has accepted a £1 million payment from the family of Osama bin Laden, the man behind the terrorist attacks in the United States in 2001, The Sunday Times revealed Saturday evening.

Prince Charles got the money from Bakr bin Laden, the patriarch of the wealthy Saudi family, and his brother Shafiq. Both men are half-brothers of Osama bin Laden, the founder of al-Qaeda who masterminded the September 11 attacks.

Despite objections from close advisers, Charles accepted the money for charity in 2013, two years after Osama bin Laden’s death, the British newspaper reports. Charles (73) is said to have personally interfered with the matter at the time and also spoke privately with the family.

The money eventually went to the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (PWCF). Directors of that fund agreed with the gift at the time, despite a lively meeting about this. Charles refused to respond to requests to return the donation, according to the newspaper. That would have been ‘too embarrassing’.
