Villarreal (dpa) – Bayern Munich’s Champions League opponents FC Villarreal missed the hoped-for home win in the dress rehearsal in the Spanish top football league.
Three days before the second leg of the quarter-finals in Munich, coach Unai Emery’s team only drew 1-1 (1-0) against Athletic Bilbao. Alfonso Pedraza scored for the hosts in the 60th minute on Saturday night after Bilbao had taken the lead through Raul Garcia (43rd minute). With 46 points, Villarreal remains seventh in the Primera Division.
League leaders Real Madrid, meanwhile, came to an easy 2-0 (1-0) against Getafe FC. Casemiro (38′) and Lucas Vazquez (68′) scored for the superior guests.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League opponents FC Barcelona will not play at UD Levante until Sunday (9 p.m.). Even with an away win, the Catalans (57) would still be twelve points behind arch-rivals Real Madrid (72 points).
