Barcelona (dpa) – FC Barcelona remains on course for the Champions League after a convincing home win in the Primera Division. Three days after reaching the round of 16 of the Europa League, the Spanish football club deservedly won 4-0 (1-0) against Athletic Bibao.
The former Dortmund Bundesliga professionals Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (37th minute) and Ousmane Dembelé (73rd) as well as Luuk de Jong (90th) and Memphis Depay (90th + 3) scored at the Camp Nou for the team of coach Xavi and DFB- Keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Behind the sovereign leader Real Madrid (60), FC Sevilla (54) and Betis Sevilla (46), Barcelona remains fourth with 45 points. However, the Catalans have played one game fewer than any other La Liga giants. Previously, FC Sevilla had won the city derby against Betis 2-1 (2-0).
