Prime Minister Rutte and Minister Jetten for Climate and Energy will attend the second edition of the North Sea Summit in Ostend, Belgium, on 24 April.

The summit is organized by Belgium. At the invitation of Prime Minister De Croo and Energy Minister Van der Straeten, the heads of government and energy ministers of the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, France, the United Kingdom, Norway and Luxembourg will meet in the port of Ostend. The President of the European Commission von der Leyen also participates in the summit. In addition, about a hundred stakeholders from the energy sector will be present to talk to the representatives of the various countries.

The ambition for this meeting is to expand the coalition formed at the first North Sea Summit in Esbjerg, Denmark by welcoming Ireland, the United Kingdom, Norway, France and Luxembourg and thus accelerate the planned investments in wind energy in the North Sea. In addition, the ministers of the participating countries sign joint statements setting out the common vision for wind energy and grid connection in the North Sea.
