“Nevertheless, we can handle this”, was the message from the prime minister at port company ICO Terminals in Zeebrugge. There he went on an internship for half a day and learned to inspect, polish and charge electric cars. The internship is an initiative of the employers’ organization Voka. Prime Minister De Croo does not deny that it can be difficult: “It will be difficult in the next five to ten winters”, he predicts, “It is a very difficult evolution throughout Europe. In a number of sectors it is really difficult to deal with those high energy prices to deal with. We are following that closely, but we have to be transparent: the coming months will be difficult, the coming winters will be difficult. You have to assume that. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. If it turns out better in the end, it’s good that we were prepared.”

The prime minister added a positive message: “As a country we can handle this, we have to support each other in difficult times. With the necessary self-confidence and the necessary decisiveness, we can do it.” The port company where the Prime Minister started work is ICO Terminals, which employs 1,250 people. It is a car transhipment company that loads and unloads about 2 million cars every year.
