On Monday afternoon, the Belgian Prime Minister will be received at Bellevue Castle for a formal meeting with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. On this Europe Day, De Croo will subsequently speak at the invitation of the Friedrich-Naumann Foundation for Freedom about the opportunities for relaunching the European project in the light of the Russian threat.
A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday about the Belgian-German cooperation on hydrogen, a pillar of the European energy transition. Then Alexander De Croo sees Chancellor Scholz. The heads of government will discuss topics such as energy, defense and security in Europe, the responses to the purchasing power crisis, the revival of European projects and applications for accession to the European Union.
It is the first bilateral meeting between government leaders since Scholz took over from Angela Merkel in December.
