Primary school in Gieten under threat of theft, envelopes with money for students taken

At OBS Gieten there is a lot of fear. In an email to parents of students, the school announced that money had been stolen. This concerns group money, which is normally used to buy items for the children.

The money is in an envelope in an invisible place in the school. Yet eight groups have lost their money.

It is not known how much money is involved and who is responsible for this. The school does not want to provide any explanation for the email. The building is also used weekly by the music associations in the village, who have been informed of the theft. According to the school, it is possible that someone walked in who did not belong there.

In the email to parents, the management also states that the school keeps its ears and eyes open for ‘strangers’ in and around the school. Another way to store the group money is also being considered. The police confirm that a report has been filed, but do not provide any further information.
