Primary schools, secondary schools and schools for special (secondary) education will reopen on January 10, 2022. This also applies to out-of-school care. According to the OMT, this is justified. Sports for youth up to and including 17 years old will also be possible outside again from 11 January until 8 p.m. Online education is provided in secondary vocational education, colleges and universities due to an increase in the number of infections in this age category, except for the previously excluded groups. This will be reconsidered on 14 January.
Same rules as for holidays
For primary schools, secondary schools and schools for special education, the same agreements apply as for the extended Christmas holidays. It concerns the following rules:
- Students with a mild nose cold or other corona complaints must stay at home and have themselves tested.
- Schools use walking routes in the corridor, stagger breaks and try to avoid contact between different school classes. Students also come to school by themselves as much as possible.
- Pupils in groups 6, 7 and 8 of primary and secondary education wear face masks in the hallway, as do the teaching staff.
- For pupils in groups 6, 7 and 8 in primary education, all pupils in secondary education and all teaching staff in schools, the following applies: do a preventive self-test at home twice a week, with the help of parents or other carers if necessary. If the test is positive, the person and the rest of the family will be quarantined and tested in the GGD test street. If the test is negative, the student or teacher can go to school. This urgent test advice applies to everyone, including those who have been vaccinated.
- In addition, the basic measures still apply in primary and secondary schools. That means: adults keep 1.5 meters away from each other (including teachers where possible), parents stay outside the school and meetings are online.
MBO and higher education
Online education is provided at secondary vocational education, colleges and universities because of the increasing number of infections in this age category. In addition, this gives extra time to give young people in that age category their booster shot in the coming weeks. On 14 January, the full package of measures will be reconsidered, including the reopening of MBO and higher education. Students in a vulnerable position can physically go to school. There are also a few other exceptions.
Exceptions
The following rules apply to MBO institutions, colleges and universities:
- Students in a vulnerable position (including MBO level 1 and 2) and students who have to take interim and final examinations are allowed to physically attend the educational institution. Practical education can also continue.
- Students who are allowed to physically come to the institution, keep 1.5 meters away from each other where possible. This also applies to teaching staff.
- Libraries of educational institutions remain open to students.
