Primark opens first store in Slovakia

Primat opened its first store in Slovakia. The Irish textile discounter has thus opened up its 16th international market. This is part of the company’s ambitious growth plans in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Primark has invested more than EUR 10 million in the new 39,400 square meter store in the Eurovea shopping center in Bratislava, creating over 200 jobs on site.

The opening builds on Primark’s expansion in Central and Eastern Europe. The company already has eight branches in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Romania. Primark also announced plans for further investments in the region. A second branch in Romania and two more in Poland are to be opened later this year. The first branch in Hungary, in the capital Budapest, is scheduled to open next year.

“Our team has worked hard to reach this milestone and we won’t stop there: we have ambitious growth plans for our business in Central and Eastern Europe, with four more stores to open in CEE over the next year, ” said Paul Marchant, Chief Executive at Primark in a statement.

Primark plans to have 530 stores by 2026. Primark currently has 422 stores in 16 countries in Europe and the US. This fiscal year, the retailer has already opened 17 stores and plans to open 27 stores by September.
