Owner-occupied homes once again became slightly cheaper in October than in recent months, reports the Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. With an average price of 428,000 euros, houses were just as expensive as between April and May this year. That is still 7.8 percent more expensive than one year previously.
The price increase in the housing market had been leveling off for a few months now, and that trend is now continuing. At the peak in January this year, owner-occupied homes were 20.2 percent more expensive than one year previously. The price increases have now roughly returned to the levels of 2020 and 2019. The prices are nevertheless much higher than then.
Fewer homes were also sold in October, Statistics Netherlands writes based on figures from the Kadaster. There were 14,863, more than 8 percent less than in 2021. At the peak of the price increases, the number of homes sold reached a low point, which is now over.
