The eighth stage of the Vuelta is not the longest stage, but certainly one that demands the utmost from the riders. After two cols of the second category and three of the third, the peloton has still not arrived at the finish, because there is still a climb of the first category. The peloton finishes uphill, on top of the Collado Fancuaya. Only after 10.1 kilometers of climbing at an average of 8.5% the riders have completed stage 8.
