Preview of his “Dark Side Of The Moon Redux”

On Thursday evening (September 14), Roger Waters previewed his upcoming re-recording of 1973’s The Dark Side Of The Moon. A select group of fans in New York were able to hear the album in its entirety for the first time. The former Pink Floyd bassist made comments on the individual tracks via video.

“You’re the first ones to sit in a room and hear it,” Waters says before the album begins. “I may not have lasted 47 minutes, but I did have it belongs. I’m going to go take a piss and maybe get half a glass of cheap white wine… turn the crap up!”

The “Redux” was announced by Waters earlier this year. It will contain all the songs from the original LP, but with a few changes. For “Speak To Me”, the bassist recorded a poem that he had previously written. “On The Run” got lyrics after “an epiphany” the musician had in 2021.

Waters also sings ex-colleague David Gilmour’s parts – but he only plays bass on the track “Any Color You Like”. Producer Gus Seyffert plays the rhythm instrument on the remaining songs. All other instruments were recorded by session musicians.

Two singles, “Money” and “Time”, were pre-released by Waters. The full “Redux” is scheduled for release on October 6th, followed by two performances at the London Palladium (October 8th & 9th) where the record will be played in its entirety.

“You’ll learn to love it,” Waters said at the end of the preview. “I promise it.”
