Preview: May inflation was 7.8%, according to INDEC

Inflation in April had been the highest monthly data in the last 20 years: 8.4%. It was a very worrying number, especially when viewed against the mirror of the goal that the Ministry of Economy had set for itself, which was to bring that figure to around 3% by this time in 2023. However, this time in the halls managed by Sergio Massa had some relief: inflation in May was 7.8%, a reality that is worrying but that marks a slight slowdown compared to the previous month.

This is according to INDEC itself, which will officially announce the consumer price index (CPI) tomorrow, although NEWS was able to access a preview of it. Despite how shocking it is that prices grow by 7.8% in one month, it is still positive considering the estimates: the blue dollar had shot up more than 20% in April, and many Specialists imagined that this rise was going to have a full impact on the numbers for May. The data is also positive, because it cuts with several months of upward growth in inflation.

You must also read the number in a political key: inflation will be announced tomorrow, the same day that the electoral alliances must be registered in the Justice, and ten days after the closing of the lists, where the candidates of each political space will be known .
