Damon Mirani’s 1-1 in the 95th minute against ADO Den Haag meant much more than one point. This was evident from the explosion of joy for the profession with accompanying fans. After hefty defeats against Excelsior and FC Emmen, the captain prevented FC Volendam from ending up in a crisis. And even though the goal came in the final seconds, Mirani hadn’t despaired.
On paper, ADO Den Haag – FC Volendam was a winner. The atmospheric actions in advance with music and fireworks promised a lot, but nothing came of it in the first half. Both teams failed to get dangerous. After the break, ADO pushed on and that opened the game.

It is clear that Jonk was very relieved. Mirani also thinks that this result could be very important for the final phase of the competition. “We have continued to fight as a team and I think we can continue with this. If you lose three in a row, that is of course not good.”

FC Volendam had to deal with a damper just before the start signal. Top scorer Robert Mühren was absent for the first time this season. Gaetano Oristanio therefore unexpectedly became FC Volendam’s occasional striker.

FC Volendam will not play a league match next week, because there will be an international break. TOP Oss will be the next opponent on April 1.
