Prevc once again flies away from everyone – top ten result for Rupprecht

As of: January 4, 2024 2:04 p.m

Nika Prevc remains unstoppable. The Slovenian also won the second competition in Villach, Austria. The best German was Anna Rupprecht. The other German jumpers were disappointed.

It’s still not the winter for German ski jumpers. Selina Freitag and her teammates also had nothing to do with the podium places in the second competition in Villach. The high-flyer Nika Prevc (275.6 points) from Slovenia won with a clear twenty point lead over the Austrian Eva Pinkelnig (255.3). Nika Kriznar (251.8) completed the Slovenian double podium.

Top ten placement for Rupprecht

As in the first competition in Villach, the best German was Anna Rupprecht. The 27-year-old started the second round in ninth place and was able to maintain her top ten position. She ended up in 10th place (227.5 points).

“It didn’t quite work out today with my jump, but I made a good step forward when it came to flying.”said Rupprecht at the ARD microphone with satisfaction.

DSV Adler in crisis – Rupprecht confident

Things went worse for the other Germans. Selina Freitag just missed the top ten. The athlete from SG Nickelhütte Aue ended up 15th (224.3). Luisa Göhrlich and Juliane Seyfarth did not make it into the top 20 athletes. The German ski jumpers lack the lightness of last season.

But Rupprecht was confident: “If each individual continues on their own, speaks openly and honestly with the coaches and is open and honest with the team, then I think we can get out of this very quickly.” The World Cup in Villach showed “that we are a little closer again”, was the currently best German jumper.

Ski jumper Schmid trains at home

The seven-time world champion Katharina Schmid, formerly Althaus, didn’t even compete. She forgoes the World Cup and instead works on her form at home. As 14th in the overall World Cup, Germany’s best ski jumper is still behind the world leaders this season.
