Mayor Marian Witte, of the municipality of Geertruidenberg, which includes Raamsdonksveer, said in a response that he was deeply touched by the news that 26-year-old Sanne and 10-year-old Hebe have died.
“A terrible drama for all involved. This news has not only touched me as mayor of the municipality of Geertruidenberg, but also as a person and mother. My thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of Sanne and Hebe. I also sympathize with the children from Hebe’s group and the employees of day care t Overstapje in Raamsdonksveer,” she writes.
She admires all the commitment and involvement she has seen in the past few days with emergency services, volunteers and also residents. “The search for Hebe and Sanne also had a great impact on them. I would therefore like to thank everyone who helped in the search in any way.”
