“The number of billionaires has increased globally by 570 to 2,668 since the beginning of the pandemic. And their wealth has grown by 42 percent, according to the development organization Oxfam. In short: the World Economic Forum in Davos offers a view of mountains of money. And you don’t have to be a socialist to find exorbitant extra profits objectionable against the background of war and hardship. Excess profit taxes, which skim off extraordinary crisis and war profits at least in part, are overdue and not a devil’s work from the communist mothball. They already existed in the USA, as well as in Great Britain and in France. Ideally, they would be coordinated internationally, similar to the global corporate minimum tax.”/kkü/DP/he
