For DHB President Andreas Michelmann, handball legend Heiner Brand is “one of the greatest personalities we’ve ever had – not just in handball, but in all of German sport”.
Brand, who became world champion in 1978 as a player and in 2007 as national coach, celebrates his 70th birthday on July 26. According to Michelmann, the World Cup triumphs in which Brand was involved were “milestones for German handball”. “Heiner Brand has been a role model for our handball players for generations. Together with the entire handball family, I wish Heiner a nice day of honor and good luck and health,” said the boss of the German Handball Federation.
