President Hess-Grunewald resigns as managing director

President Hubertus Hess-Grunewald will step down as managing director of the Bundesliga soccer team Werder Bremen at the end of the year, the club announced. The 61-year-old will soon continue working as president and will play “an important role” on the supervisory board.

Tarek Brauer will join the management board on September 1st. The lawyer will take care of human resources, law and IT, among other things.

Another new member of the management board is expected to be sustainability manager Anne-Kathrin Laufmann, who is to become the fourth managing director of the corporation after Hess-Grunewald has left.

The executive committee of the parent association followed the proposal of the supervisory board on Tuesday, so Laufmann has been nominated for the management from January 2023.
