The Radio 2 program ‘De Madammen’, one of the best-listened radio blocks in Flanders, celebrates its crystal jubilee in October. Presenter Anja Daems (53) has been there from the start and looks back and ahead. “Radio has become more of a derivative of social media. Nowadays we mainly talk on air about photos or videos that we have made for Facebook or Instagram”, she says in a conversation about her radio career, motherhood at a late age and her teenage past. “I was a melancholy teenager. “Mother why am I alive?” seemed to be my life motto at times.”
