Kimmo Rouskun according to highlight.

– In Finland, the number of crimes committed by cybercriminals has increased over the last 1.5 years, and it is now likely that we will also be subjected to more cyber-attacks by state actors or cybercriminals acting as their subcontractors, Rousku writes In his Linkedin article.

– Now that the (Ukrainian) war has begun, more and more people are worried about how to operate in a secure manner and prepare for possible disruptions.

In addition to extensive security guidelines, Rousku wrote instructions on how to acquire your own digital resources. In practice, these instructions provide a coping kit for digital world disruptions where, for example, electricity or internet access is not available.

We gathered Rousku’s instructions together to make our own survival kit related to the digital world.

  1. Keep a paper list of your most important contacts.
  2. Get a battery-powered, crank or solar-powered FM radio.
  3. Back up your important data to cloud services, your home PC, or an external storage device.
  4. Make sure you have a strong authentication method, such as a mobile certificate.
  5. Check to see if you have the installation information available to reinstall your computer.
  6. Download entertainment, such as music, to your device for offline use.
  7. Download offline maps from your map application to your device, at least for the most important areas – preferably larger ones.
  8. Make a note of the IP addresses of the most important services so that the service can be used even if the DNS name service is disrupted. For example, the IP address of Google search is http://142.250.191.35.
  9. Get enough backup power to charge your phone and other devices. Consider a solar-powered backup power supply. You can also get spare batteries or rechargeable batteries.
  10. For example, consider getting a prepaid subscription from a different carrier than the one you currently have. In the event of a malfunction, there may be differences in the coverage of the operators. Remember that emergency calls are forwarded to the emergency number 112 through any operating operator.
  11. Find out how you can share your internet connection from your phone to other devices when needed. Make sure the phone is in the charger, as sharing more power.
  12. If your reception is severely impaired, try sending an SMS text message.

Rousku states that no one can certainly implement all the things mentioned in the list completely. However, he instructs you to consider which things are already in order and which are still worth putting in order.
