From June 30, Vodafone will significantly upgrade its CallYa prepaid tariffs. All information about the changes at a glance.
After Vodafone recently changed its regular mobile phone tariffs, there are now changes for the prepaid tariffs. From the end of June, CallYa users will have unrestricted access to the 5G network, among other things – at no additional cost. There is also more data volume.
Free 5G and additional data volume
Overall, both data consumption and the need for faster data transmission on mobile devices are increasing in Germany. Vodafone reacted to this in May 2022 by renaming the mobile tariffs previously known as Red to GigaMobil. On the other hand, the provider equipped the new tariff options with sometimes significantly more data volume.
Vodafone is now planning something similar with its CallYa prepaid tariffs. The data volume increases for the CallYa Allnet Flat M and L tariffs, as well as for CallYa Black. So far, 5G was also an option in all CallYa tariffs – that is about to change. From June 30th, access to the high-speed network will be included in all tariff options at no additional cost. This makes Vodafone the first provider in Germany to offer the 5G network in all of its prepaid tariffs at no extra charge. For comparison: So far, most users surfed with LTE Max at a maximum of 500 Mbit/s. 5G makes up to 1000 Mbit/s possible, provided the local networks have already been upgraded to the standard.

An overview of Vodafone’s CallYa tariffs
There are a total of seven prepaid options at Vodafone. CallYa Classic and begin are good for beginners. The basic fee is very low or even free in the Classic package. Classic users pay 3 cents per megabyte, which is comparatively cheap. With CallYa Start there is at least 1 GB already included in the tarig.
With the CallYa Allnet Flat tariffs S, M and L Vodafone offers versatile models in different sizes. The S tariff will also contain 3 GB in the future. The data volume of CallYa Allnet Flat M, on the other hand, increases from 5 to 6 GB, that of the L tariff from 7 to 9 GB. However, it remains completely unchanged CallYa Digital with a proud 15 GB for 20 euros, since the tariff already had 5G access.
Of the Blacktariff is also the first CallYa offer with unlimited data volume for 79.99 euros from June 30th. Previously, the limit here was 50 gigabytes.
Upgrade for CallYa tariffs also for existing customers
The upgrade affects not only new but also existing customers, who can look forward to more data volume and free 5G from the end of June. In order to be able to use the new benefits, customers must activate the corresponding option in the “MeinVodafone” app from July 1st. Those who do not activate themselves will be automatically upgraded in the following months. The same applies to users who use one of the tariffs, which will have more data volume available from July. According to Vodafone, the provider will then inform its customers about the exact time of the changeover.
Conclusion
Although not all users of Vodafone’s prepaid tariffs benefit from more data volume, the jump by 1 GB or 2 GB is gratifying. However, the fact that 5G is now being introduced automatically in all options at no extra charge is a big step. This may also trigger a change with the other mobile phone providers in Germany. Of course, the option only benefits those who are in areas where 5G is already available.
Also noteworthy is the now unlimited CallYa Black tariff. If you compare the offer, as a frequent surfer you are very well off with Vodafone at 79.99 euros. At Telekom, for example, a comparable prepaid tariff costs EUR 99.95. Of course, it is cheaper in contracts with a longer term, but there you have far less flexibility.
