English Premier League clubs want to significantly reduce advertising for bookmakers. As the highest English football league announced, the 20 first division clubs agreed to voluntarily refrain from gambling advertising on the front of their jerseys after the 2025/2026 season.
The league rejected an immediate ban in order to give the clubs enough time to search for a new shirt sponsor. Eight Premier League clubs are currently advertising bookmakers on the highly lucrative front of their shirts.
Until the ban comes into force, however, the teams will not only be able to keep their current gambling partners on their jerseys, but also acquire new ones for advertising, as the British news agency PA reported.
