As expected, England international Mason Mount is moving to Manchester United. England’s record champions have now announced this.
Accordingly, the 24-year-old signed a contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2028 with an option for a further year. According to media reports, Man United paid Chelsea FC the equivalent of almost 64 million euros for the attacking midfielder. Thanks to bonus payments, the sum could increase by a few million.
“It’s always difficult to leave the club you grew up with,” Mount was quoted as saying on the Man United website, “but Manchester United offer an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.”
Mount with an emotional video message
Mount had previously said goodbye to Chelsea fans in an emotional video message. The Portsmouth-born footballer had been through all the Blues youth teams since he was six. After the club loaned him to Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County, he has been playing professionally for Chelsea since 2019, with whom the 36-time international won the Champions League, among other things.
