Premier League: Man City wins outnumbered thanks to a Haaaland penalty in the 95th minute

Past Arsenal by Sunday

The reigning English champions Manchester City fought a late home win in the Premier League from a man down and thus temporarily took over the top of the table. Thanks to a late goal by Erling Haaland, the team of star coach Pep Guardiola came 2-1 (1-1) against the strong promoted FC Fulham on Saturday and overtook the previous leaders FC Arsenal at least until Sunday.

Ex-Dortmunder Haaland, who was on the bench for a good hour after an injury break of a week and a half, scored a penalty in added time (90th minute + 5) after Kevin De Bruyne had played the penalty. Without Haaland in the starting line-up, Julián Álvarez (17th minute) shot the dominant hosts in the Etihad Stadium to a deserved lead. A little later, however, João Cancelo (26th) saw the red card for a foul in the penalty area. Andreas Pereira (28) converted the penalty for Fulham with German goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The substitutions of Haaland, who had injured himself in the Champions League against his ex-club Borussia Dortmund, and Phil Foden did not bring the desired turnaround for the “Citizens” from the game. Haaland scored a header for the hosts after 75 minutes, but the goal did not count due to an offside position. In the end, Man City celebrated again thanks to Haaland, who scored in a home game for the sixth time in a row. For the Skyblues it was the 13th win in a row against Fulham.
