Few goal scenes in the first round
The first half was mainly characterized by tactics and two strong defensive lines. The guests from Liverpool got surprisingly little offensive and only became dangerous once with a header from van Dijk (3rd).
Arsenal needed a quarter of an hour to shed respect but then grew stronger and came against deep ones Reds always in good situations. However, these rarely led to real deals and so Liverpool’s keeper Alisson Becker only really had to intervene once.
Jota outsmarts Ramsdale
After the break, Liverpool got what they thought was a dream start: Henderson had too much space and sent Mané down, who put the ball in Ramsdale’s goal, but was clearly offside when he passed the ball (47′).
A few minutes later, Jürgen Klopp and Co. were allowed to celebrate. Diogo Jota was sent into the penalty area on the left half and fired to the near corner. Arsenal’s keeper Ramsdale looked unhappy when he conceded (55′).
