City wins at Everton
At the top, champions Manchester City took the next step towards successfully defending their title with a 1-0 (0-0) win at Everton. The “Citizens” of star coach Pep Guardiola, led by national player Ilkay Gündogan as captain, temporarily increased their lead over pursuers Liverpool to six points. The “Reds” and their German team manager Jürgen Klopp were unable to follow suit at the weekend: Liverpool will play the League Cup final at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday against Champions League winners and club world champions Chelsea.
Tottenham are recovering well from the defeat
In the early game on Saturday, Tottenham Hotspur won 4-0 at Leeds United. After goals from Matt Doherty (10th), Dejan Kulusevski and star striker Harry (27th), it was clear early on that the “Spurs” would be indemnified after the surprising defeat three days earlier at Burnley FC. Former Bundesliga player Heung-min Son scored the fourth goal for the visitors from London in the 85th minute.

Burnley gets an important point in the relegation battle
Burnley clinched another important point in their relegation battle with a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Brentford FC lost 2-0 to Christian Eriksen’s comeback against Newcastle United, who are steadily clearing the relegation zone.
Last Friday Norwich City lost 2-0 at FC Southampton, coached by Ralph Hasenhüttl.
