What has been known for weeks is now officially certain: star striker Erling Haaland is moving from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City.
The 21-year-old Norwegian signed a contract with coach Pep Guardiola’s team until 2027. City announced this on Monday (June 13, 2022). Haaland was able to leave Borussia Dortmund for the fixed transfer fee of 75 million euros, both clubs had already agreed on a transfer a month ago.
“Want to improve”
“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer. I’m confident I can do it here. It’s a great move for me. I can’t wait to start preparing.”said Haaland, whose father Alf Inge also played for City from 2000 to 2003.
City’s style “is exciting”
The Norwegian national striker switched from Salzburg to BVB in January 2020. In 89 games, Haaland scored 86 goals for the Bundesliga club and won the DFB Cup with the Black and Yellows in 2021. Several top clubs had advertised for Haaland. He admires City’s football style, said Haaland: “It’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”
