Manchester (AP) – Another Premier League footballer has become the victim of a burglary. Thieves joined Victor Lindelöf while the Swede played with record champions Manchester United at FC Brentford in London.
This was announced by coach Ralf Rangnick’s club to the British news agency PA. Lindelöf’s wife and two children were at home during the burglary but were unharmed. You could have hidden and locked yourself in a room, wrote Maja Nilsson Lindelöf in an Instagram story.
The family was “clearly shaken,” the club said. “It was a distressing experience for them and for Victor when he found out about it after the game and the club fully support them.” Lindelöf played the full 90 minutes of the game that United won 3-1.
Known problem
In recent years, Premier League players have repeatedly fallen victim to sometimes brutal attacks. Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo said he was injured by four burglars who stole his jewellery. In September 2021, thieves broke into England international Reece James when the defender was playing with Chelsea in the Champions League at Zenit St. Petersburg.
In October, The Sun reported that an unnamed professional and his girlfriend were tied up for hours by burglars. In March, four gunmen broke into the home of Sweden international goalkeeper Robin Olsen and threatened the then-Everton player with machetes.
