Premier League | Arsenal back at the top after derby win

Arsenal FC has not given up in the fight for the English football championship.

Six days after the 4-1 defeat at defending champions Manchester City, the Gunners defeated Chelsea 3-1 (3-0) in the North West London Derby and recaptured the lead in the table. However, they have played two more games than Man City and their fate is no longer in their own hands.

Martin Ödegaard (18’/31′) and Gabriel Jesus (34′) ended Arsenal’s dry spell of four games in a row without a win with their goals. Team manager Mikel Arteta’s side are two points clear of the champions for the time being but have just four games left.

Man City, also in the Champions League and FA Cup with title chances, will appear six more times in the Premier League – next on Wednesday (9 p.m. / Sky) against West Ham United.

Chelsea, only after the break with national player Kai Havertz, conceded their sixth competitive defeat in a row despite a goal from Noni Madueke (64th). The European Cup places are long out of reach for the Blues, while the relegation zone is only nine points away.
