Pregnant woman of iconic Mariupol photo and her child has died | Instagram HLN

Evgeniy Maloletka made the image for the AP news agency last Wednesday, shortly after Russian troops bombed the hospital. The woman was one of the victims and was carried outside on a stretcher by emergency services. The poignant image went around the world.

At the same time, it became the start of an information war between Russia and the West. The Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that the images of the pregnant women coming out of the building were faked and that the women were actresses themselves.

This was strongly denied by the authorities in Ukraine. They spoke of three dead and seventeen injured in the bombing of the children’s and maternity hospital.
