Precision work in the Efteling: colossal mast goes into Dance Macabre

Little by little, the new Efteling attraction Danse Macabre is taking shape. While the contours of the building have become increasingly visible in recent weeks, the first parts of the ride system are now also entering the abbey ruins. This produced exciting pictures on Thursday: a mast weighing more than 45,000 kilos was lifted into place with extreme precision.

The mast was delivered to the park in two parts earlier this week. Using a 400,000 kilo crane, the 6.5 meter high upright mast was then hoisted into the attraction. Then the second part, a kind of ring of 5.5 meters wide, was placed on top. The whole operation took a few hours.

This is another important part of the attraction, which should open in 2024. In the replacement for the Spookslot, visitors will soon sit in choir stalls that rotate on discs. They spin through the spooky decor, of course to the sounds of the song Danse Macabre.

Not only will the attraction open next year, but also the themed area around it: the Huyverwoud. Some of them can already be visited. At the beginning of July, the In den Swarte Kat store and the De Laetste Hoop toilet building opened.
