In collaboration with artist Martine Symy, Prada held the seventh edition of Prada Mode in LA on Wednesday and Thursday. This time, the exclusive touring event took place at Genghis Cohen, a well-known restaurant in Los Angeles.
For Prada Mode Los Angeles, Syms created a concept that examines communication in times of technology. Sym’s work is known for its “conceptual acuity, humor and social discourse,” reflected in the Prada fashion show. The interactive installation called “HelLA World” brings together live performances, narrative displays and casual conversations between strangers. Using large monitors, the course of conversations and snapshots were shown, to which visitors could contribute via their mobile phones. Combining programmed and spontaneous communication, the storylines reflected repetition, predictability, and disclosure. Additional monitors with image and video material reinforced the installation’s message, which outlined the transition between private, revealed and public communication.
Prada Mode is a social club that allows its members to participate in exclusive events in the art and fashion scene. The first edition took place in December 2018 in Miami. Other Prada fashion events were held in Hong Kong, London, Paris, Shanghai and Moscow.
