Italian luxury fashion house Prada has announced the second edition of a public exhibition called “Pradasphere” in Shanghai later this year, which will trace the history of the brand from its beginnings in 1913 to the present day.
Curated by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, the exhibition will include more than 500 artifacts – physical and digital – drawn from the fashion archive as well as decades of engagement in art, architecture, culture and sport.
The fashion house had its first almost ten years ago Pradasphere at Harrods in London and Hong Kong and builds on the success of the prestigious project with the second edition. The first Pradasphere included selected pieces from past Prada collections as well as special projects, new collaborations and a Pradasphere Café – an immersive and exclusive brand experience.
“The exhibition is not a spectacle, but a profound experience of astonishing diversity, which Prada presents through accumulation, close observation and hospitality. Different elements reveal the themes and ideas that are central to Prada. Some explore craftsmanship and artisanal production, others showcase the diverse aesthetic contradictions at the heart of the brand, while others examine Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ constant quest to challenge traditional notions of luxury,” a press release said.
The exhibition aims to open up new perspectives on the brand’s 110-year history and provide a first-hand insight into its past, present and future.
Admission to the Pradasphere is free and can be visited in Shanghai from December 7, 2023 to January 21, 2024. The fashion house has not yet provided any information about the exact venue.
