Power struggle at Red Bull? Horner laughs off rumors and has suspicions

He can only laugh about these rumors: Team boss Christian Horner reacts to reports of an ongoing power struggle at the Red Bull Formula 1 racing team. He has explosive suspicions.

While Max Verstappen and Red Bull inexorably won the drivers’ and constructors’ titles, things only seemed to be creaking behind the scenes. In October, a report made the rounds that there was a tough power struggle among the “cops.”

The two Zank-Zampanos are Christian Horner and senior advisor Helmut Marko, who are said to be vying for influence. Horner is trying to take over the team’s fortunes more and more and push back Marko’s influence.

These rumors shot through the paddock and were quickly denied.

Formula 1: Christian Horner takes rumors with humor

In an interview with “PlanetF1.com”, Christian Horner looks back on these rumors. According to his own statement, the Brit takes the rumor stew calmly.

“You have to take something like that with a good dose of humor because the rumors are so far from reality,” Horner said and laughed.

Then he began to criticize the media.

“But unfortunately the world we live in is such that someone writes something on an obscure Brazilian website, and then when it’s translated into four different languages, it suddenly… takes on its own traction, and often it’s on There’s absolutely nothing to these stories.”

He and Marko have been there long enough to know “that you shouldn’t believe everything you read,” he added, brushing the reports off the table once again.

The team boss emphasized that both Red Bull leaders were experienced enough to ignore the rumors in the garage.

“Helmut and I have known each other for 27 years,” he said. “We’ve always had a very close and open relationship. So that hasn’t changed.”

Was it the Formula 1 competition?

The thing about the relationship is that you can’t have it through the media.

Horner explosively does not rule out that the trouble rumors were partly spread by the competition.

“The problem is that there probably isn’t much for you to write about,” he told his interviewee.

“It’s likely that some of our competitors are trying to fan the flames with anything that could destabilize the team.”

That’s completely normal in the Formula 1 circus.
