In the North Brabant city of Oss, 27,000 households have been without power since late Sunday afternoon. According to grid operator Enexis this concerns 1,463 zip codes. Part of the area surrounding the city with more than 90,000 inhabitants was also affected by the major disruption.
It is not yet known what caused the malfunction. Enexis therefore does not yet know at what time the disruption will be resolved, a spokesperson told the ANP news agency. On the website, the network operator states an expected end time of 7:45 p.m.
The disruption comes at a time when many Brabanders are celebrating carnival, including in Oss. The city center is according to regional media darkened, causing the carnival festivities in some bars to come to an abrupt end. In other bars, the party continues as usual thanks to emergency power.
