The SC Potsdam volleyball team set an exclamation mark at the beginning of the final series for the German championship and duped the favored Allianz MTV Stuttgart. The guests won the newly crowned cup winner 3:0 (25:19, 25:22, 25:18) and took a 1:0 lead. A total of three successes are required to win the title.
Potsdam, which is playing a series of finals for the first time, surprisingly knocked out defending champions Dresdner SC in the semifinals. On Tuesday, the guests showed strong nerves and didn’t let themselves be unsettled by the loud fans in Stuttgart.
The second game of the final series is scheduled for Friday (6.30 p.m.) in Potsdam before things get back to business in Stuttgart on May 4 (8 p.m.). Depending on the course, the decision in the final series could already be made there. Other dates would be May 6 (8:00 p.m.) and May 8 (7:15 p.m./all Sport1).
