Possibly tropical warm during Pinkpop | 1Limburg

It could just be that next weekend will be the warmest Pinkpop edition ever. Tropical temperatures of more than 30 degrees can be expected from Friday.

That is what Meteo Limburg predicts. It will sweat a lot on Saturday in the afternoon and early evening with about 33 degrees.

Never so hot
If the forecast comes true, then according to weatherman Thijs Zeelen it will be the warmest Pinkpop day ever. “In 50 years from 1970 to 2019 it was never this hot during Pinkpop. On the Sunday of Pinkpop 1985 and 2003 it was (almost) 30 degrees. It was last eight years ago during Pinkpop on Saturday 7 June 2014 tropically warm with 30 degrees, after which the infamous heavy weather broke out on Monday with 29 degrees.”

Bring sunscreen
It is also advisable for visitors to the festival in Landgraaf to bring enough sunscreen. With a strong sun force 8, a non-lubricated skin can already bandage after 10 minutes. “Bring a hat or cap. Lubricate yourself well, but also drink plenty of water or soft drinks in between. So not just alcohol. We have plenty of drinking points,” says Pinkpop manager Niek Murray.

Earlier, the festival announced that there will be more seating and shade areas on the site this year. Whether the shadow areas will be further expanded is still being considered, according to Murray.

Raincoat also needed
Sunday seems to be the worst of the heat. Then it is expected to cool down considerably. In addition to sunscreen, it is also advisable for the Pinkpop public to bring a raincoat for some rain and thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms are not likely, according to Meteo Limburg, because the air is significantly less warm and drier than Saturday.
