Possibly sensitive documents captured in cyber attack on International Criminal Court | Abroad

In a statement on Tuesday, the international court said immediate measures had been taken to minimize the consequences. This is also done with the help of Dutch authorities, for which the court says it is grateful. The court is working, among other things, to improve cyber security. The ICC does not wish to provide any further explanation of the cyber attack.

The Dutch police are investigating the matter. A source reports to NOS that a large number of sensitive documents have been captured, but a spokesperson cannot say anything about the ongoing investigation.

The ICC was established in 2002 by dozens of states to try genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in member countries where normal justice cannot take place. Many more countries subsequently joined, but not including the great powers China, Russia and the US.
