Possibly asylum seekers in hotel Uden soon, appeal against ban

Asylum seekers may soon arrive at a Van der Valk hotel in Uden. This was provisionally banned by the judge last Friday, but the municipality of Maashorst is appealing against that ruling.

The municipality wants to accommodate 300 asylum seekers in the hotel. They should have moved in this Monday. A group of 32 residents took COA and the municipality to court. They do not agree with the way in which the group of asylum seekers is ‘dumped’ in the hotel in their eyes. A week before the lawsuit, there was suddenly a so-called tolerance decision, with which the municipality turns a blind eye to the shelter until a final permit is obtained.

According to the judge, the municipality had acted negligently. A decision must first be made regarding the COA permit application. Local residents then have two weeks to submit a notice of objection.

“After studying the judge’s ruling, the Municipal Executive has today decided to appeal against the ruling. The municipal council is doing this through a so-called turbo emergency appeal,” reports the municipality, which does not want to say anything further. about the case, in a press release.

In the case of a turbo emergency appeal, the usual deadlines, including for handling the case, will be canceled. According to the municipality, the court granted the request for an expedited hearing. It is still unknown when the case will be heard.
