The municipality had investigated whether another celebration could take place on the Coolsingel, just like in 2017, when winning the national championship. But it soon became apparent that several production companies needed to organize such a large event are struggling with a shortage of material and personnel.
Because the ceremony must take place safely and responsibly, the triangle (municipality, police and Public Prosecution Service) and the management of Feyenoord have been consulted. “It has also been decided that under these circumstances it is not feasible to organize a ceremony on the Coolsingel and that a possible ceremony will take place in De Kuip,” the municipality said.
Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb: “The city of Rotterdam is proud of Feyenoord’s place in the final. If the team wins, it would be fantastic to be with them on the balcony of the town hall with many spectators. To everyone’s and my great disappointment, a celebration on the Coolsingel is practically impossible. That is why, in consultation with Feyenoord, the location has been chosen for a tribute in De Kuip.”
