Rio de Janeiro (dpa) – The German Davis Cup team boss Michael Kohlmann tested positive for the corona virus a few days before leaving for Brazil, the German Tennis Association announced.
The 48-year-old, who has been boosted, has had a mild course so far and is still hoping to start the journey on Saturday. The German team meets on 4./5. March in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Kohlmann is currently in quarantine. If he can present a negative PCR test by the end of the week, he will travel to Brazil as normal. Otherwise, national coach Philipp Petzschner will stand in for him and look after the German Davis Cup team on site together with Dirk Dier.
The German team has to do without Olympic champion Alexander Zverev. The German team is led by Jan-Lennard Struff. The two debutants Daniel Altmaier and Oscar Otte as well as the doubles specialists Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz are also part of the squad.
