Position debate about Eintracht star Götze sparked

After the first half of the Bundesliga season, Eintracht Frankfurt, fourth in the table, was still clearly on course for another Champions League qualification and even ranked ahead of BVB in the tableau. In the meantime, the Hessians have lost a whopping 18 points to Borussia Dortmund and are preparing to gamble away the international business entirely. One of the reasons for this is Mario Götze’s drop in performance.

The German World Cup driver is one of several Eintracht stars who have suffered a clear drop in performance in recent months. Götze rarely comes close to his outstanding performances from the first half of the season, although he recently had some strong offensive scenes in the guest appearance in Dortmund (0: 4).

Eintracht trainer legend Dragoslav Stepanovic presented a theory to “Bild” as to why things are no longer going well at the 30-year-old and Frankfurt Eintracht.

“Recently, he has dropped more and more often to the left. As a result, the interaction with Kolo Muani was not as good as it was in the first half of the season,” said Stepanovic, who started a new debate about Götze’s position.

Most recently, the interaction between the German international and star striker Kolo Muani worked in the DFB Cup quarter-finals, when Götze set up both of the Frenchman’s goals in the 2-0 win against Union Berlin three weeks ago.

“I would always like it that way. He has to play more centrally behind Kolo in order to be able to stage him better. The two can simply harmonize even more perfectly,” Stepanovic told the newspaper.

With 39 competitive appearances in all competitions, Mario Götze is one of the absolute assets at the SBU and is an undisputed regular player under head coach Oliver Glasner. However, his last Bundesliga goal was a long time ago, on matchday 8 in the 2-0 home win against Union Berlin.
